ECTS Credits Certificate

ECTS COURSE CREDIT CERTIFICATE

Improve the quality and efficiency of your education and training.

The Education Quality Accreditation Commission offers hundreds of free education courses in a broad range of popular subject areas. With these courses you may earn European ECTS credits towards a degree. Studying a book on your own does not guarantee that the course learning outcomes have been met. In order to get a complete course credit certification you need to demonstrate that you have met the course learning outcomes. To do so you are required to submit a written report of a minimum of 15 pages about the selected subject book.

The EQAC ECTS Accredited Course Certificate

  • Each EQAC certified accredited course corresponds to 5 ECTS credits.
  • 1 ECTS Academic Credit = 25 to 30 hours of study work.
  • 1 EQAC Course Certificate = 5 ECTS credits (130 hours of study work)

  • 5 ECTS credits are awarded to the student after completion of the learning activities required by the course of study and the successful assessment of the achieved learning outcomes through the presentation of a written report with a minimum of 15 pages about the selected textbook.

How are ECTS credits issued?

ECTS credits are based on the workload students need in order to achieve expected learning outcomes. Learning outcomes describe what a learner is expected to know, understand and be able to do after successful completion of a process of learning. Workload indicates the time students typically need to complete all learning activities (such as lectures, seminars, projects, practical work, self-study and examinations) required to achieve the expected learning outcomes.

ECTS Certificate Workload

The presentation of a 15 pages written report about one of the suggested subject textbooks (over 300 pages) is considered equivalent to 5 ECTS credits (130 hours of study work) according to the following workload.

  • Textbook reading and comprehension (300 pages) = 50 hours
  • Comprehensive reading is assigned an average speed of 6 pages per hour.
  • Comprehensive reading includes note taking time.
  • Data and notes organization and report draft writing = 40 hours
  • Notes and data organization is assigned around 10 hours per report
  • Report draft writing is assigned an average speed of 1/2 page per hour
  • Final report review and formatting = 25 hours
  • This includes textbook review reading and final report writing and formatting

  • Critical thinking, conclusion and opinion = 15 hours
  • Personal quality thinking is considered to happen along the study process.
  • Conclusion and opinion is supposed to happen at the end of the process.

ECTS Credits International Acceptance

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a tool which enables students to collect credits for learning achieved through higher education. ECTS aims to facilitate planning, delivery, evaluation, recognition and validation of qualifications and units of learning as well as student mobility. ECTS is widely used and recognized in higher education and can be applied to other lifelong learning activities where the EQF European Qualifications Framework is implemented or accepted.

How can I order an EQAC ECTS credit certificate?

  9. If you fail, the EQAC secretary will notify you the reasons why your report failed and you are given one more opportunity to resubmit the report with the required improvement. In this case you are required to pay an additional evaluation fee of 90 Euros. There are no refunds of this fee. If you fail a second time you will be dropped from the course certification process. You may apply again for the certification of the course.
  10. If you approve, you will receive the EQAC ECTS Credit Certificate and a Certificate Supplement detailing the course learning outcomes and workload accomplished.

NOTE: We consider that presenting a 15 pages report about the subject is the best way to demonstrate the required learning outcomes. Other options may also be considered by the EQAC to issue an EQAC ECTS credit certificate. Contact the EQAC Secretary with your proposal.
